Alarms in Michałowski Schools | Alarmy w szkołach Michałowskiego
I was lucky to attend primary school in a pretty peaceful times, so each alarm was treated by me and my classmates seriously, but also with excitement, as it was meaning lessons were interrupted and therefore shortened. I don't know however how current students are reacting to them now, especially since the full-scale Russian invasion of neighbourimg Ukraine had started.
In my time at primary and junior high school (the two of them shared a building with the latter having classrooms on the highest floor), we had thankfully only practice alarms, but there were two types:
The anti-fire alarm meant we were oblidged to go in an organized manner outdoor to a school backyard.
The intruder alarm meant we had to block the entrance doors in classrooms.
(Since 2022 there might be also a practice bomb alarm with leaving for shelter arranged in the school basement, where the cloackrooms are located)
There were about three anti-fire alarms scheduled each year, yet the intruder alarm was practiced only in the junior high and once a year. Nobody knew the exact date and time of those alarms, except the small group consisting of headmasters of both schools, who were organising them and chiefs of local police and firefighter stations, who had to know in advance when they may receive a signal for the intervention. The signals were started after the janitor pressed the “alarm-pożar” or “alarm-intruz” button (“alarm-fire” and “alarm-intruder”, respecively). Those button were installed on each floor, nearby the main staircase. They were also connected to the tool and program running the bell, called “elektroniczna woźna” (“e-janitor”), so both types of these practices were starting with the bell ringing. My brother Antek, who is quite a trickster, wanted to press the intruder button just from curiosity, but luckily he never had an opportunity to make an attempt.
In the case of anti-fire alarm we were supposed to leave all our belongings in the classrooms and in pairs follow the teacher to the school backyard, where was the evacuation meeting point and where after everybody came there, the headmasters were giving a speech reminding us of how important it is to stay calm during an emergency and to remember the security numbers.
When there was intruder alarm, the sign to start locking the doors was (besiedes the alarm bell ringing) the janitor walking across all the corridors and shouting “intruder!”. Then strongest boys accompanied with the teacher were moving the cupboard with our lockers to block the door. After that the janitor with PE teachers were checking whether there's any door moving. We could remove the barricade only after the janitor shouted “the alarm is over”. The reason for blocking the door and all of the plan was explained to us by a police officers. They said the terrorists have only about five minutes before the arrival of the counter-terrorists, so they won't be willing to waste time for attempting to get into classrooms with locked doors.
One time in my final year of junior high school, three of my classmates thought it would be a great idea to arbitrarily announce we will be conducting a practice intruder alarm and blocked the clasroom in order to prevent the art teacher from coming, cause they saw the subject as "useless" and her as "boring". They did that after the bell, bit before the teacher appeared, trapping everybody else inside. Because they were noisy, the teacher quickly recognised who was responsible for the action and they got hedmaster's reprimands and lowered grades for behaviour. Thanks to the fact only their three wanted to do it and others loudly opposed their action, there was no collective responsibility.

Miałem wielkie szczęście chodzić do szkoły podstawowej w dosyć spokojnych czasach, więc każdy alarm wraz z kolegami z klasy traktowaliśmy poważnie, lecz również z podekscytowaniem, gdyż oznaczało to przerwy w lekcjach, a przez to ich skrócenie. Nie mam pojęcia, jak współcześni uczniowie na nie reagują, zwłaszcza odkąd ruszyła pełnoskalowa rosyjska inwazja na Ukrainę.
W moich czasach w podstawówce i gimnazjum (obie szkoły dzieliły jeden budynek, z czego ta ostatnia miała klasy na najwyższym piętrze) mieliśmy na szczęście jedynie próbne alarmy, ale były ich dwa rodzaje:
Alarm przeciwpożarowy oznaczał, że mieliśmy wyjść w sposób zorganizowany na podwórko szkolne.
Alarm “intruz” oznaczał, że musieliśmy zablokować wejście do klasy
(Od 2022 mogą w szkole organizować także próbne alarmy bombowe, polegające na zejściu uczniów do schronów zaaranżowanych w szkolnych piwnicach, gdzie zlokalizowane są szatnie)
Próbnych alarmów przeciwpożarowych było zaplanowanych około trzy na rok, lecz alarm “intruz” był praktykowany jedynie w gimnazjum i tylko raz do roku. Nikt nie znał dokładnej daty i godziny tych alarmów, nie licząc małej grupy składającej się z dyrektorów obu szkół, którzy organizowali je oraz komendantów lokalnych posterunków policji i straży pożarnej, którzy musieli wiedzieć z wyprzedzeniem kiedy mogą otrzymać sygnał do interwencji. Impuls tych sygnałów miał miejsce po tym, jak pani woźna nacisnęła przycisk “alarm-pożar” lub “alarm-intruz”. Przyciski te były zainstalowane na każdym piętrze, niedaleko głównej klatki schodowej. Zostały one podłączone do narzędzia i programu uruchamiającego dzwonki, nazwanego “elektroniczna woźna”, tak więc oba rodzaje prób rozpoczynały się od dźwięku dzwonka. Mój brat Antek, który jest niezłym żartownisiem, chciał z czystej ciekawości wcisnąć przycisk alarmu intruz, lecz na szczęście nigdy nie miał okazji spróbować.
W razie alarmu przeciwpożarowego mieliśmy pozostawić wszystkie rzeczy w salach lekcyjnych i parami podążyć wraz z nauczycielem na szkolne podwórko, gdzie znajdował się punkt zbiórki w razie ewakuacji i gdzie po tym, jak wszyscy przybyli, dyrektorzy wygłaszali przemowę przypominającą nam jak ważnym jest, aby zachowywać spokój w obliczu niebezpieczeństwa oraz by pamiętać wszystkie numery alarmowe.
Podczas alarmu “intruz”, sygnałem do rozpoczęcia blokowania drzwi był (oprócz dzwonka), woźny przechodzący korytarzami obok wszystkich klas, krzycząc “intruz!”. Wtedy najsilniejsi chłopcy wspomagani przez nauczyciela przesuwali regał z naszymi szafkami w celu zabarykadowania drzwi. Potem woźny wraz z wuefistami sprawdzali, czy nie ma jakichkolwiek ruszających się drzwi. Mogliśmy rozmontować barykadę dopiero wtedy, gdy woźny krzyczał “alarm odwołany!”. Przyczyny tego blokowania drzwi i całości planu zostały nam objaśnione przez policjantów. Powiedzieli oni, że terrorysści mają około pięciu minut do przyjazdu służb antyterrorystycznych, więc nie będą marnowali czasu na próby dostania się do klas z zablokowanymi drzwiami.
Pewnego razu wiosną 2018 roku, kiedy byłem w trzeciej gimnazjum, trzech moich kolegów z klasy uznało za genialny pomysł by arbitralnie ogłosić, że nasza klasa będzie przeprowadzać próbny alarm antyterrorystyczny. W tym celu zablokowali drzwi do klasy, przez co pani od plastyki nie mogła wejść. Zrobili tak, ponieważ uważali jej przedmiot za “bezużyteczny”, a ją za “nudną”. Barykadę wznieśli po dzwonku, ale przed nadejściem nauczycielki, więżąc pozostałych członków klasy w środku. Jako, że byli głośni, pani szybko doszła do tego, kto jest odpowiedzialny za blokadę klasy i otrzymali oni nagany dyrektora szkoły oraz obniżone oceny z zachowania. Dzięki temu, że tylko ich trójka chciała to zrobić, a pozostali głośno wyrażali swój sprzeciw, zaniechano odpowiedzialności zbiorowej.
