My comment on: "Those Three Words"
This may sound like a title of a bad movie, but those were things I adressed commenting this newsletter by
:In my life, I've thrown up only five times, and the most recent one was over a decade ago. All of them were results of eating what was for dinner too fast. I did it twice into the toilet, once on a corridor in the house, once to the bucket we used for mopping the floor and once in the car. From then on, I always keep an eye on my eating & drinking pace.
I remember two times I had to clean after somebody threw up. First was in my primary school with one of my classmates, as he vomitted during lesson with what was presumeably the dish called "spring salad" he ate for breakfast. It wouldn't be a problem, but as the janitor was absent that day and he was picked up immediately by his parents, my whole class was left with cleaning. I vowed never to eat this salad again in my life, and stick to it up to date. The second time I had to clean the remains of somebody's meal happened a few yars ago, when older of my younger brothers was organising a party for his friends. He asked the rest of us go elsewhere for the night, and on the following day we've found out that somebody had missed the toilet and vomitted next to it, covering most of the floor with I don't want to know what. Again I had to help with cleaning, and he got ban for holding up parties at home.
I totally support your views on attendence awards, although I never had such competition on official level, it was only spoken as a fun fact during last class meeting on the day of school year's ending ceremony.
When it comes to sicknesses in my family, they sometimes transfer between my parents and me with my brothers. When somebody catches one of us first, and after his/her recovery next one becomes ill, we have this saying "Clearly, [insert name] must have sell it to me".
(…)
The first time I puked was when I was in kindergarten and the (so far) last occured in autumn of 2012. After giving all of those situations a deeper thought, what I remember is all, except the most recent, happened when I was a kindergartener and my family was living in my aunt and uncle’s house, watching over it during their stay abroad, as due to uncle’s job they had to leave to Switzerland and then Germany. The pattern of events for the first three was as follows: in the evening I ate what was for my supper (sandwiches, apples and the third thing I forgot) quite fast, without carefully chewing it, and then late in the night I woke up with a strong stomachahe. Then I rushed to my parents’ bedroom to wake them up and seek their help. Next, mum or dad went with me to the bathroom, helping me to reach the vessel into which I vomited (if I have made it to this point, because after those sandwiches I couldn’t resist it and threw up in the corridor right before entering the parents’ bedroom). As I said, have I made it to the bathroom it was either toilet bowl or bucket we used for mopping the floor where I puked. After the unpleasantness had ended, mum usually made me drink some tea and take some pills.
These two photos picture how the road looked like between mine and Antek’s room (the one in the upper pic with green wall and bunk bed, but when I threw up both beds were placed next to each other on the ground) and our parents’ bedroom (the one in the lower pic with cream walls, flower and carpet. The wooden stick with wheel on the bottom is Ignac’s bed with bars). The doors with stained glass were leading to the bathroom and toilet. The place was renovated a few years later, so now it looks completely different.
Here is what actually went differently than what I initally remembered during writing my comment. My dad’s car was the place of my fourth and fifth time vomitting. The former coincided in time with the cold I caught, so it was really painful. It happened on a Sunday when I was a preschooler. Not too long past the dinner we were going to the church, but we didn’t make it far from home when I felt bad. I was only able to say my abdomen hurt before the puke hit the car upholstery. Nobody went for the Holy Mass that day - we immediately returned home, watched a transmission on a religious TV channel and then I went to bed, staying home during the next week.
My most recent throwing up happened on the way to school and was totally unexpected, as I don’t remember eating anything fast or feeling bad in the morning or on the day prior. We were minutes from reaching our primary school when out of nowhere I lost it sitting in dad’s car, who was giving me and my brother Antek a ride. Because we were close, he went for his lessons and dad drove me back home, despite him having to be soon at work. After that, for many years now I try to chew every food carefully and avoid anything that may provoke vomitting.
The puke my colleague (his name was Daniel) had in the classroom happened when we were in first or second grade of primary school, but almost certainly in the spring (otherwise why would he eat “Spring Salad”?). But it wasn’t the dish he took from home - the whole class was preparing it during lessons that day, under our class teacher’s suprevision. Everybody except Daniel was fine after tasting it, so it must’ve been some intolerance on his side. He was sitting in the back, way behind me, so first I heard a strange noise from the rear, then I turned around and saw puke all over the floor, desks and chairs. Its smell was obviously disgusting. Our class teacher, Mrs. Marzena Kl., told one of us to call the janitor to help us cleaning, but soon the kid returned saying she was absent. This left us with all of the work to do. Daniel was taken by another teacher to the nurse, where he waited for his mum to pick him up, while we took (with headmistress’ permission) the mop, bucket and dish soap from janitor’s office. I was ordered by class teacher to help her with washing the mop and was close to following Daniel’s footsteps just because of how bad it had smelled. I vowed never to eat this salad again in my life, but didn’t stick with it to date, only for the next few years I refused to eat anything even slightly similar in taste and smell to the “Spring Salad” thanks to that memory. In that time I took just some small tasting portions made by my grandmas.
Antek threw the party for his friends in our house on the weekend in February of 2021 (February 20th-21st, 2021). It was predecessed by some time of him begging our parents to agree for making it and that we all will agree to spend the night somewhere else. Mum, dad and my other brother Ignac opted for having a weekend trip to Krynica-Zdrój, which was tough to organise given the pandemic restrictions. I on the other hand wanted not to travel too far, as I think I had to study for something, hence I begged my way into staying for that night at my aunt and uncle’s house (the one we watched over), which is only within two minutes of walking up our road.
Around Sunday noon I returned home to start helping with cleaning. Knowing how some people are keen to leave mess while visiting, I “sealed” the entrance to my room with my furniture, but few of Antek’s friends were still able to storm it and place some trash on my desk. I was angry, especially because Antek promised to keep everybody out of there and my parents’ bedroom as well (we found empty bottles and remains of food there). Checking how big the mess was, I found bad smell all over the house, particularly strong nearby the bathroom on the ground floor. Investigating, I found puke there. The person who vomitted missed not just the toilet, but also the garbage bin, so the puke was spread across the bathroom. This time I wasn’t in the mood to help him pretend nothing happened, also I was back only about thirty minutes before others returned. Even though it was our mum who removed most of the vomits, the smell was still hard to bear. Everybody was furious at Antek for not making his friends clean after themselves, so he was given a ban for holding up parties at home. Next time his friends came by happend only this summer, but this time they were fewer and didn’t leave the mess.
Regarding the last two topics, there’s not much to depthen. Awards for attendance weren’t a thing in my primary or junior high school. Had someone not skipped a single day or lesson, it was mentioned only as a fun fact during year's ending ceremony. There were no prizes for being always present beside shaking hands with headmasters and receiving “spontaneous” applause from all of the students and staff. I have never reached full attendance, but one or two of my classmates did. I don’t know how, they must’ve been robots or aliens.
Perfect attendance is possible only when one’s having little to no sicknesses. The strength of immune system differs among my family members. I’m ill most often, while my mum has the strongest health, at least when it comes to “light” sicknesses of catching a cold or flu. In the season, the infections are frequently transferred between us, but they rarely hits my parents. Wanting to be funny, it was I who came up with the phrase about one “selling” the illness to the other.
That’s all for today. See you in my other works.

Natychmiast ruszałem do sypialni rodziców by ich obudzić i szukać u nich pomocy.
Czwarty i piąty raz, kiedy wymiotowałem, miał miejsce w autach mojego taty.
W niedzielę około południa wróciłem do domu by zacząć pomagać w sprzątaniu.
Chcąc być zabawnym, wymyśliłem, by mówić w takiej sytuacji “Na pewno [wstaw imię] mi to sprzedał(a)”.
